#5 Up Jurgen’s late goalscoring reds | PL Wolves (a)

International breaks are crap. Just bin them off. I only saw the first 60 minutes of this game, which, given the state of the first 45, was pretty unfortunate. Thankfully, I saw Gakpo’s goal, but then had to leave the rest to Twitter updates. That first half might be the worst performance I’ve seen them put in since Wolves away last season. Absolutely dire. Defence was a mess, the midfield was non-existent and the forwards were just passing the ball to the lads in yellow whenever they could.

I did always feel like all Liverpool needed was that one goal back and they’d find a way. What I didn’t expect (but maybe I should have given his goalscoring history) was Andy Robertson to pop up with the key goal. He loves a late goal, that lad. Loves them. What a player. He was getting slated towards the end of last season cause he was being expected to play as a LCB, but I wouldn’t replace him for anyone. One of the first names on the team-sheet, week in, week out.

What I will say is that 12.30 kick-offs after an international break are the worst things in football. It’s fine for the fans to think that, but Liverpool could really do with getting out of the habit of thinking it too. It’s just a good job Liverpool don’t have another 12.30 kick off until… oh.

Anyway, the game was crap, but the reds won. We move onto the Thursday nights under the lights. Up Jurgen’s late goalscoring reds.
