Honestly, what a day, mates. What a day. Press the unlock button on my car key, car door won’t open. Go to put my keys in my car door, car door still won’t open. Ring insurance company, won’t come out. 10 minutes before kick-off. I had a dream that Man City were gonna win 2-1. Two flukey Haaland goals and a Salah consolation on 88. Something like that. We’ve all seen the goals they score. Deflected goals, cut-backs from the byline. Week in, week out. Most boring team in the league if you just let them pass the ball around. Would genuinely rather watch paint dry than watch them score in the first five minutes then pass it around for another 88 minutes until Rodri’s overhead volley hits 115 players before it trickles in the back of the net. Boring. They’re brilliant, but there’s absolutely no risk to their game unless you take it to them. I watched the game on my phone on Sky Go. All I could see during that first half was Liverpool players giving the ball to the lads in blue. They were doing my head in. Should caveat that with Man City are exceptional at pressing. At what point is Bernardo Silva just gonna go to Barcelona? He flirts with it every year, but never actually goes. Unbelievable player. It did always feel like the Reds would score at some point, but it also felt like Man City could score their second (and then third) at any point too. I love this Liverpool team, and I think it’s really exciting what they’re building, but for the past few seasons now, I’ve been concerned about the lack of physicality when it comes to winning the ball back in the midfield. We’ve lost titles because of it. I remember that game against West Ham where Jarrod Bowen ran past 6 lads to score, when he should have just been clattered on the halfway line. Don't think I've forgotten about it. Quadruple. It cost us a quadruple. Just take the fella out on the halfway line and deal with the consequences later.

Delighted that Trent got his goal. Is Alexander-Arnold scoring against Man City becoming a trend? I hope so. Terrible kick-off time, hardest away game of the season out of the way, and resilience when it was needed. A point away at the Etihad is not to be sniffed at. Take it and move on to the next one.
