Here’s to a bit of Joel Matip appreciation. I think it was probably tongue-in-cheek and taken out of context - I haven’t seen it - but Michail Antonio saying he fancies his chances against Liverpool only to get bullied by a 32 year old Joel Matip who’s legs are 'allegedly' shot is quite funny. He was aggressive and on the front foot, and worked well with Joe Gomez to keep him quiet. What I will say is their #10 is a very, very good footballer.

I thought Liverpool played well, to be honest. West Ham are always gonna cause you problems if you allow them to. All of their lads are about 6 foot 5, and have a lad that crosses a ball in perfectly every time he puts it into the box. It’s mental. I saw people losing their heads over the goal Liverpool conceded, but sometimes you just have to say fair play, and accept another team will occasionally do good stuff. It seems to be a massive problem with the social media age of football. Someone has to be at fault, when really they're just really good at football. Anyway, that's a deeper conversation for another day. West Ham are a good team, and they will pick up plenty of points this season, which is why this win feels even better.

The midfield coped quite well with their big lads, and didn’t allow themselves to be bullied. It looked like it was going to be one of those games where West Ham continue to be stubborn, especially after that big Darwin miss, but a moment of magic and they’re back on top, and in control of the game. What a fella. He looks like he’s loving his football, and he seems to be making much better choices all over the pitch. He also seems to love playing football with Mohamed Salah. Who wouldn't? What a player he is, by the way. One of the best. Might be THE best. You won’t know what you’ve got until he’s gone. Hope he stays at the club till he’s 50. Icon of the game. Onto the next.
