This game had the potential to be a bit of a banana skin for the lads in the Minecraft fancy dress. First game back after a break, Sunday, 4.30 kick off, wind blowing a gale (again), Sky cameras at the ready. Had all the hallmarks. Or not.
First half was a bit of a non-event. Both teams trying to get one on the break, but neither succeeding. Second half, the Reds came out and asserted their dominance by not letting Bournemouth make a game of it. Some great football from Jurgen’s lads to open the scoring and from that moment on it was fairly comfortable.
How good was Konate, by the way? Unbelievable. That block on the penalty spot. Speaking of penalties, how didn’t Diogo Jota get a penalty for one of the clearest fouls you might ever see in a game of football? And that Kluivert tackle? I’ve said before that I’m not a conspiracy theorist (as such), but I have no doubt in my mind if it was Luis Diaz making that tackle, it’s given as a red cad. Wild. These refs are wild.
Anyway, MacAllister, Konate and Bradley all excellent. And then you get onto the two lads who got the goals. Clinical. 4 goals, a clean sheet and the Reds keep marching on. A busy few weeks ahead…
