Surprisingly, that was a better experience than I thought it was going to be. The thought of Ollie Watkins running in behind Joel Matip has filled me with dread all week. Would I have taken a draw beforehand? Probably. Turns out he barely even touched the ball, and Liverpool didn’t really need to leave third gear.

I thought both centre backs were brilliant, there. Aggressive off the ball, and composed on the ball. Very much enjoyed their performances. But enough about them, that number 8 looks a proper player. The goal, the attitude, the work effort, the engine. So good. It’s mad to think it’s only Dominik Szoboszlai’s fourth game for the club and he’s already strutting around the pitch like he’s played there for years. I’m so excited to see what his ceiling is. He’s been the standout player on the pitch every time he’s played, and I don’t even think he’s anywhere close to being properly settled in yet.
