#1 - A frustrating start | PL Chelsea (a)

Stamford Bridge is always a difficult place to go. I can’t actually remember the last time Liverpool won there. Feels like it was about 18 years ago. Could be longer, I don’t know. Going into the season, Liverpool were quite clearly desperate for at least one defensive midfielder. About 35 minutes into the game, it became even more evident that they need a defensive midfielder - ideally someone who will just sit in front of the back 4, put a tackle in and move the ball on. That'd be amazing. I’d really like that.

I thought Mac Allister looked very neat and tidy, as did Szoboslai. However, they'll look much more comfortable if/when Liverpool decide to go out and get a more defensive minded midfielder.

We saw the best and worst of Liverpool, especially in the first half an hour or so. Going forward, electric. Defensively, pretty abject. The second half turned out to be a non-event. Chelsea might feel like they deserve more from the game, Liverpool might feel like they were lucky to get a point. Reckon both teams are gonna have an up and down season. Again. Later on in the season, given the circumstances, this might be seen as a decent point. At the moment though, it feels like a frustrating start. We move onto the next one.
