#2 Luis Diaz drags the Reds through | PL Bournemouth (h)

I wish Liverpool would start games better, you know. There was an element of inevitability that they’d concede first, and they actually went and conceded two goals in the first 150 seconds. I’m not sure what happens when they play at Anfield, especially in the earlier kick-offs, but they seem to lose the plot for the first 15 minutes, and then realise they’ve actually got a game to win.

Anyway, after the first 15 minutes, Liverpool started to remember that they’re a better team than Bournemouth. Luis Diaz is a superstar. There’s been a lot of talk about the defensive frailties over the past 12 months, and rightly so, but not having Luis Diaz for 6 months of last season was a nightmare for Liverpool. He’s similar to Sadio Mane in the sense that he drags the team through difficult moments. He was the master of that craft. What a player.
For the second week in a row, Dominik Szoboszlai was very, very good. Obviously it’s early days, and there’ll be much bigger tests, but at such a young age, his ceiling is so high. It was very nice (and strange) to see a Liverpool midfielder skipping past two players, and leaving them in the dirt. More of that, please.
I’m dreading next week’s game at St. James’ Park, but I’ll worry about that when it comes around. Until then, I’ll enjoy these three points.
By the way, how the fuck was that a red card?
