The last two games have been a struggle, but I felt quite positive going into today’s game. I’m not sure it could really be as bad as the Toulouse performance. Surely there’d be some sort of bounce back? Thankfully there was.
Brentford tried to cause some problems, but were mostly reduced to corners and speculative shots from 30 yards. It is a good win for the Reds. If Liverpool didn’t win today, there’d be two weeks of meltdowns, questions about the team and some fans would be wondering whether last season’s habits were returning. First half, Darwin Nunez was electric. He was causing their defence all sorts of problems, and it’s just his luck that he scores two great goals and he’s a toe length offside for both of them. I’m not sure that crazy side of his game will ever leave. It's frustrating at times, but it's also a lot of fun. Second half he was much quieter, but thought he still gave Brentford a headache, and got his much deserved assist.

Virgil van Dijk. He might just be back to his imperious best, you know. There was a point where Mbuemo was running at goal and he just went “nah”, and pushed him off the ball. I’ll hold off on the claims that he’s back to his best till after the next game, but he was fantastic today. I do have my concerns about certain areas of the defence, and the structure of the defence, but one thing is for sure, he’s not part of that concern.
Mo Salah. 200 goals in English football. What more is there to say about him? He’s a poacher, he’s clinical and he’s always there when the Reds need him. Just when it looked like it could be one of those frustrating games, he pops up with a brace. Icon. Legend. Big one coming up after the break. Download the free wallpaper below!
